I was passing by the SAC with my friend to get something to eat and there was this booth setup, what caught my eye was the Firefox stickers they were giving out. So I stopped by and discovered that Stony Brook has a Linux user fan club. I immediately asked about it and it seems awesome. I will check out their future meetings. The next general meeting is on February 27, 2007 7:00PM at Computer Science Building Room 2129.
However, today they are hosting a Firefox Install Fest where they will offer free food and software. I really wish I can attend but I have a math midterm later on and I need to study for it. Anyway, if anyone is interested, please give them a visit, they seem very geeky and are all Linux guru’s.
Check them out at http://lugsb.cs.sunysb.edu.

Spent the day with the family at home like I do every year. Didn’t get a chance to go out and see the Lion Dance in Chinatown but I did catch up on my sleep this weekend.

Till this day I still don’t know how the Lunar New Years work, apparently they are a little over a month later compared to the regular calendar. I’m not a traditional guy at all. I know very little about the values of Chinese culture, my parents didn’t really teach me about it. I use to ask and they would tell me I was too young to know so I just lost all curiosity. All my friends tell me that I’m not even Asian, in a way it’s kinda true.
I have more Hispanic friends than I do have Asian friends. I’m a disgrace! LOL

Yep, this year is the year of the Pig. Google does a good job of keeping up with Holidays! Well, it’s time to hop back on the trains, next post from Stony Brook!

I just saw this funny video from Paul Wall on MySpace. Now this is not one of his music videos, this is actually him talking about his MySpace and how he got these hoe’s trying to promote their websites on his MySpace page. He don’t play that sh*t! haha!
I’m gonna try to get him to do a shout out to [tony cai] on his next “GetMoneyTV” YouTube video blog. The way he talk cracks me up. This goes to show that famous people do personally check their messages and go though them all. So don’t loose hope, keep sending them messages!
Catch his YouTube video here!

Today I tried installing Beryl with Ubuntu Linux and dual boot it with my Windows. My efforts were a waste because I found out the MD5 did not check after I had screwed up the installation.
So I spent 4 hours restoring my Windows to working order. For some reason, the BIOS did not recognize the hard drive and I had to install a whole new installation and used Norton’s PartitionMagic to restore my Windows installation.
I’m going to purchase a new hard drive [seperate from windows] and try again the next time I come home. Maybe SuSE with Beryl. I leave for Stony Brook tomorrow afternoon. My weekend home was so far, NOT productive!
Happy Chinese New Years!

- New York City, Retarded Fun
Today, I spent 4 hours going from Stony Brook to Brooklyn, back home for Chinese New Years. So I’m on the number 2 train at Atlantic Avenue going home when I hear these two guys arguing about religion. This was the most funniest thing I’ve seen in such a long time so hear me out!

One dude is a Haitian ex gang banger, drug dealer, weed smoker and the other is a member of the Bloods street gang. The Haitian man was walking through train cars at 1:30AM in the morning preaching about Jesus Christ, and the second guy [the blood] was standing at the doors. The Haitian man walks pass him and starts preaching, the second guy was like oh Jesus is garbage, stop BSing. At that point, they got into a heated argument.
Blood: How you tellin me your going to heaven after you did all this smoking week and gang banging?
Haitian: Because if you believe in Jesus, it will wipe away all your sins.
Blood: So your telling me if I go kill 1000 people and confess to Jesus then I will go to Heaven?
Haitian: Yes that’s right. This is my sword! [The Bible]
Blood: BS, it’s early, go to sleep, stop talking all this BS.
Haitian: Sleep is deaths cousin!
Blood: So your telling me you don’t sleep?
Haitian: Thats right.
Blood: Shut up, BS! You never sleep!?
Haitian: Never, I REST!
Blood: Hahahha
Haitian: Look at you, your ballin! Red Jordans!
Blood: Look at you, your balling, the Bible! HAHAHA
::: The man tries to give him a Jesus pamphlet. The dude rejects it.
Haitian: Your crazy, stop drinking. [Gets off the train]
OMG, this cracked me up! It was just the way they were speaking and the hand movements. The Haitian man was [talking like this] and the blood was a Jamaican [who talked like this MON]!

Woke up for class, I couldn’t even make it out of my quad without almost falling 5 times. All the roads were iced up. Stony Brook was so unprepared for this storm. Everywhere was iced up. Main roads were blocked and it sucked, I had to make so many detours to get to class. However, the trees looked hot, it was all covered in clear ice.
Some more pics from my Camera Phone:

I’m still trying to slide down Tabler Steps!! Heehehe!

Did you really think HP Customer Service Representatives knows everything they tell you? Well this goes for all customer service representatives at any company, the fact is that they don’t know crap. They get all their instructions and information from a back-end website. All it really is, is a knowledge base they search though to troubleshoot problems. Besides, all they do is speak in a Indian accent which is annoying as hell! The funny thing is that they don’t admit that they are from India.

You can even do it yourself! Check it out here! Think twice before you call someone you think can help you, all they will do is waste your time. Your better off doing it yourself.

WOW!, I remember back in the day of Elementary School – High School. You would never find a snow day if you go to school in New York City because subway would be our way of transportation and since Subways ran underground, there was no excuse for not going to school but out here, we had only 1 inch of snow and the school announced “classes canceled after 2PM”. Here’s the email I got shortly after 1PM:
To All Students, Faculty, and Staff:
Due to the weather conditions, classes scheduled to start after 2 PM
today, Wednesday, February 14, have been canceled.
Please be aware that only Governor Spitzer can order State offices
and facilities to be closed. When classes are canceled, University
offices are still open and employees are expected to report to work.
If individual employees choose not to report to work because of
weather conditions, they must call in and charge their absence to
appropriate accruals with supervisory approval.
In the case of rapidly deteriorating weather conditions, which can
occur during the work day, an employee who wishes to leave early must
secure supervisory approval, and charge this time to appropriate
accruals.

God damn I was happy! I hope the same for tomorrow, especially when the snow gets all icy. Muhahaha!

I woke up late for math class and cut it today as if that wasn’t already bad enough, I had to cut all my classes today. Why? Because of the long awaited winter weather. I was getting dressed and I took a glance out the window, all I saw was white slush. It had snowed overnight and suddenly started raining. [Snow + Rain = Slush -> Ice Overnight] Anyhow, I was walking to Sociology and a friend told me not to go. I didn’t listen but I soon came to realize that I should have taken his advice. By the time I got to ZebraPath, my feet was soaking wet with the feeling of ice cold needles poke every inch of my foot, c’mon y’all know that pain LOL!

Anyway, ths was the first time it snowed and stuck on the ground this winter at Stony Brook. Too bad it wasn’t that fluffy snow where we could have snow ball fights and stuff, that would have been fun especially with all the big open space we have in H-Quad. Sliding down Tabler Hills would be awsome but hopefully winter doesn’t end without that happening.

Last but not least, have a Happy Valentines Day!
