Are you all ready for Windows Vista? Today is the eve if the long awaited launch date. January 30th! Too bad for me, Stony Brook does not give Vista out for free until the summer says my friend “Pepi” but, i’ll wait and see. This is because of the Educational Licensing program, a partnership between institutions and Microsoft, where they cannot get it until a certain amount of time passes. I’m sure if you wait a couple of more days, the cracked version of Vista would be all over the place. Besides, my laptop I’m using at Stony Brook is not Vista Compatible so I’m not really looking forward to it. I have the Vista Transformation Pack 6 installed so it looks just like Vista.

I’m about to introduce you a neat website I found from Digg. A website that has a the police records of all the incidents filed by Walmarts across the nation. Since I’ve been to Stony Brook, I’ve visited Walmart here at Center Reach quite frequently. Walmart, by statistics is 400% more dangerous than the compared giant Target.

Crimes such as purse snatching, car thefts, armed robberies, assaults to shootings has been on the rise at Walmart locations. So I might have to give up that $2 Capri-Sun drinks and Kellogg’s Rice Crispies all together. At the Walmart I go to, there’s been 449 reports filed costing $34,797 in tax payers cash!

For those of you who thought the weather will never get cold a few weeks ago were dead wrong. Holy shit! I went out with a friend to pick up a pizza delivery yesterday, while walking pass the RA’s door, a note written on a dry-erase board said, “warning, windchill 0 degrees”, he wasn’t lying. It was brick outside!

This morning, waking up was a bitch, classes on a Friday morning in 10 degree weather and on top of that it was windy. The trip to the book store after class was a killer, my friend and I talked about how the school’s Roth pond was frozen with a 1 inch thick ice sheet. I’m about to take a walk on it!! Watch me fall in haha! This weekend SUCKS!

Stony Brook’s “ResNet“ or residential network is a hassle to setup at the beginning of the semester. There were a lot more problems this semester compared to my first semester here. During my first semester, setup was a little confusing, I had to scan my computer for an anti-virus program and it checked Windows Update to see if I had all of Microsoft’s patches, and that was it, it registered.

However, this semester, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer came out and ResNet made that a requirement in order to register your computer. Upgrading wasn’t a difficult process but it was very time consuming. I tried installing it for my friend and it took 3 tries to finally get it right. Another thing is the Anti-Virus program, I had to install their Symantec’s Anti-Virus client edition. My anti-virus program did not want to update in order to meet ResNet‘s requirements, then my Windows Defender was outdated but ResNet did not let it update.

If you’re having problems updating, the best solution is to uninstall your anti-virus program, or Defender in my case and reinstall it with the updates.

Overall, I think it’s unnecessary to update such things as your browser, If someone were to use Unix on ResNet, they would have to get it manually registered through the DoIT. Basically, this is only a Windows/Mac campus, I switch from SuSE to Windows.

Since I moved to the new host a couple of months ago, I’ve been getting problems where my users have told me that my site doesn’t display. At times, I couldn’t submit articles to Digg and stuff. I thought it was strange because I see it fine. I couldn’t access my own website at Stony Brook!, so I soon discovered that it was a nameserver problem where the secondary nameserver wasn’t resolving. I tried contacting my host, and they said my email was bouncing, that was another problem. So I’m switching to ResellerZoom. They have been around for a long time and I hope to get better hosting from them. I’ll update with a review about how I think their service rates compared to others I’ve used in the past.

The nameserver should change within 24 hours so expect some downtime between now and then.

I had a good time home but now it’s time to get outta here. To Stony Brook I go! I had the worst goodbye ever from someone I will miss dearly.

I’ll miss the NYC Big Apple feeling, won’t be coming back for a month or so. Feel free to come visit me, y’all know EOP does it big! LOL! Riding limos and hittin’ up parties. So, yeah, it’s time to get back to work for me. I’ll miss the family too, thats for everything.

So far, I’ve packed my bags and will meet a friend up tomorrow so we can take the LIRR together. By 2:00PM tomorrow, I should be there. The first thing I’m gonna do there is chill with the gang before work actually starts Monday.

Yep, it’s that time again, time to return for another semester at Stony Brook. One thing I learned in previous semesters is to buy the teachers edition of text books instead of the regular student text books. Why? You can usually get them at a cheaper price believe it or not and the teachers text books have answers in them [this can help if you suck at math like i do]. It can really help when it comes to homework and when your professor is strict about getting answers right! But, please do you research before jumping in and buying it because sometimes it may be so different from the students text book, that, it’s worthless for studying.

Always: Don’t purchase books from the school’s bookstore if you don’t have to, they friggin overcharge [damn Barns and Nobles and fuck Stony Books]. Use services like eBay or Half.com or just buy it though a friend.

I spent to day home today so I was bored and decided to dedicate my free time to create a Mozilla “Stony Brook University” site search plugin for all Mozilla browsers. You might already have some pre-installed plugins like Google or Yahoo! but there isn’t one for Stony Brook, until now.

With this plugin you can search StonyBrook without having to be on their homepage. This should be very convenient for all university students and staff. Why not help my college community search better with this tool?

Go Stony Brook!

Whao! What a long day I had today, the previous night, I slept at 3:30AM [[3 O`CLOCK]]. This morning I woke up at 10AM to meet with some friends from Stony Brook for a special hangout session. So I made my way to 59th Street, Central Park, the original plan was to go ice skating there at Wallman Rink but that was too expensive! 25$, the last time I was there, it was a moderate $17. Damn!

So my friends decide to go to Bryant Park which was free but all I had to do was rent the skates! When we met up and got on line to purchase the skates, they didn’t charge me! lol [[yepp i got free skates]] and I wanted to pay their asses but they thought I payed, oh well, LMAO! But I didn’t bring a LOCK and had to purchase one for fucking $9, what a ripoff, no wonder admission was free.

However, guess what was going on underground! My friend twins got arrested an patted down by NYPD when they claimed that twins did everything together, even go in the same turnstile! They were on the walls with their hands up and the funny thing is that their the last ones that cops should be worrying about in a city like this. Bitches were fined $60 each. LmAO! I got the pics but I don’t think they want them on the internet!

Anyway, I’m skating and having fun with my friends, all of a sudden this fucking 30 year old looking cracker in khakis kicks my blade, and I elbow his ass, I’m like WTF and I thought that was the end of it but NOOO, the next lap, he comes and pushes me (by accident)* he made it seemed BUT fucking HELL NO! I told my boys and they go and try to trip his ass. LMAO!! [[nice lookin out yall]]. So I go and try to talk to him, he acts like he don’t see me, what a pussy.

So after that we had lunch/dinner at Mc Donald’s at 42nd and the females had to go home cause it was getting kinda late [[5o`clock]], it wasn’t even that late! but they had to go… whatever..

Then we headed over to the 42nd Street Lowes movie there to catch a movie. I saw the movie “Prime Evil” which was awesome hot! Recommend it for the thriller, gruesome loving audience. However on the way, there, at AMC thetre across the street, we caught a quick glimpse of Aishwarya Rai, she’s the Ms Universe of India, freaking HOT as hell! being accompanied by Abhishek Bachchan to their movie premiere of Guru (2007). My friend got a better view of her being that they were like 2 feet away from her! Jesus, she was hot! While trying to get a closer look, freaking NYPD cops were trying to hit me with their night sticks if I didn’t get off the streets! LOL! I was gonna take a picture of it but he was seriously about to hit me! I fucking ran!

After that, we headed over to good old Toys-R-Us, where I for the first time touched a Nintendo Wii’s game controller and go to demo one of their games. Awesome game play but the graphics isn’t all that great. Reaching to the conclusion of my day, I had one last crazy moment. It was time to go home but what happened in 34th Street train station made my day. My friends and I were talking about girls, college and porn. Tell me how my friend digs midget porn haha!
