Bought 2 iPods In One Day By Accident

Ever since my friend dropped my Creative Zen and broke the hard drive, I’ve been thinking about owning an Apple iPod again. Why not today? I thought. Heck it was nice weather, I was out in Manhattan and after getting a hair cut, I headed straight to J&R Music and Computer World and purchased a Black Apple 30 GB 5.5 Gen iPod with a clear plastic protective shield for $239 (a little under retail).

When I got home, I received an email from eBay that said “Item Won“, I thought to myself “SHIT” I must have bidding on some iPods a couple of days back and forgot about it. Turns out, that was exactly what happened, so I asked my sister if she wanted an iPod as well. It had ended at $200 with shipping included, a new white iPod with accessories included. She was like yeah, why not. So I paid for it…

So my day ended with no intentions of purchasing an iPod to owning two of them. :) It would be totally messed up if Apple released their 6th generation iPods sometime soon.

This Picture Had To Have Made My Day

So, you all are familiar with Facebook’s new API applications, well, those of you who use Facebook. Well, there is an application called Graffiti, basically what it does is allows you to paint a picture with your mouse and use it as your wall post. Neat idea but this picture really made my day. I came home from a long days work and I see this in my Facebook wall.

It’s Lily’s version of me in Pokemon, I was really hoping I was the Pokemon trainer but it turns out that I’m the Squirtle!! This is really funny! I enjoyed it and it was a good laugh and hope it was for you too.

It was really good artistic skills on Lily’s part, awesome! :)

Review: One Years Use of ViaTalk’s VoIP Service

It’s been a year since I’ve used ViaTalk’s VoIP service and I just wanted to write a little about my experiences on the revolutionary VoIP system. When I applied for ViaTalk exactly one year ago, the company was practically new. VoIP had just been introduced to the mainstream public not too long ago before that. Some of the big companies out there that provide VoIP are Vontage and SunRocket.

Well, you may ask, What is VoIP? VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol, this technology allows you to use your existing broadband internet connection and use it as a connection for your house or business phone. It’s different from services like Skype because with Skype, you do need your computer on with the program running. With VoIP, it completely replaces your traditional home phone. Some of the advantages of VoIP over the traditional phone is that it’s cheaper, plans feature unlimited calling and it has all the features you can ask for on a phone. Except that it doesn’t use your wall jack, it uses your ethernet jack with your DSL or Cable provider. Changes are is that you already subscribe to broadband internet already so your not paying for more.

Now that you have a clearer understanding of how VoIP works, it’s focus on ViaTalk. ViaTalk, again is a company that’s just about a year old coming out of it’s Beta. The company who owns it is actually a web hosting company, HostRocket. ViaTalk’s service has been really solid over the past year, the only problems I had with them were problems earlier on. I can see that VoIP technology has really evolved, I’ve been receiving better quality calls and few downtime periods. ViaTalk is particularly great because of it’s quality and amount of features for it’s price. They would occasionally offer deals such as $199 for 2 years of service! Which is great because with my old Verizon land line service, I would pay like $50 a month for normal phone service which doesn’t include features such as unlimited calling, 3 way calling or caller ID.

I would defiantly recommend VoIP to anyone. The technology has really evolved into something that you can depend on nowadays. ViaTalk is exceptionally good and I have tried many. Don’t go with Vontage because they charge a lot and their call quality sucks, they were one of the first VoIP companies but surely they did not do it right! :)

First Day On The Job With NYPIRG

Today was my first working day for NYPIRG, a environmental advocacy job I applied for. NYPIRG stands for New York Public Interest Research Group. It advocates for New York consumers and have been doing so for over 34 years. This years goals is to push legislation to pass the 15% reduced emissions in New York State by 2015. The plan proposed by Spitzer, our new governor. My job is to inform the public about these issues and gather membership support. My observation day was wonderful and I like it a lot. I will STAY! :)

We go to a new location everyday and today’s was New Roshelle, New York. Met some wonderful new people, by the end of the day. I really look forward to doing this!

UPDATE!:: (7/3/2007)

Visit to Rockland County To Eat Em Cats!

Hahaha. Rumors say that Haitian people eat cats! I went to my boy’s house for the weekend up in Rockland/Nyak. It was nice to get out of the same routine. Went to the mall, bowling, saw Spider Man 3, a nice weekend in general. Friends and I went out to try to catch a deer and beat it with sticks.

Just got home thanks to Joey, drove me all the way back and then his car’s battery died, thanks to OnStar’s road side assistance. I’ll miss all of ya’ll at Stony Brook. Have a nice summer. Time to find something to do!! Out! :P

Last Nights Dinner on Campus – Yum

I’ve ran out of Stony Brook meal points about 3 weeks ago, I don’t know how that happened but it did and I haven’t eaten on campus since then. So I kinda missed the food they have here. I had dinner at Kelly yesterday evening and it looked a little something like this.

To my surprise, I actually liked it. I’m sorry the first post of the month has to be something I ate last night, but I liked the picture. Good old fashion chicken and mashed potatoes. :)

Boating on the Long Island Sound

It’s been a while since my last post again, still very busy but I managed to have some fun still. Last week, my friends and I walked to Long Island sound and stole a row boat along with some oars and rowed out hoping to reach Connecticut, of course that didn’t happen because it was too far to row but we still had our fun. We went out on low tide and the sand bars were so high that we had to get out and push the boat most of the time. We then got onto an isolated island and made a campfire. Nothing better than the great outdoors on Earth Day. Fun Fun Fun. :)

I’ve Been Pretty Busy Lately

“Title says it all”. I hate saying that but it’s true, I haven’t really dedicated my time in doing things right for the past month. I’ve been struggling with the few things that I have to work on so therefore there has been a tremendous lack of posts on my blog.

Some people tend to think tend to think that all I know about technology is all in this blog. There are something that I’m too lazy or too private to share on the net without getting in trouble such as cracking DRM’s and other nifty hacks here and there but they all will eventually get me in trouble somehow.

So to make a long story short, sorry for the lack of posts, I will make it up to everyone soon when I figure some things out. :) I think I’m in love.. hehe

Don’t Fu*k With The Ouija Board

For the past 2 days I’ve been obsessed by the mysteries of the Ouija Board and even bought a 1974 vintage version of the board game online. The first day that I was playing with it, some crazy things happened that are unexplainable. Apparently how the Ouija Board works is that you put your finger on this triangle device and spirits are suppose to talk to you. I was surprised at it’s accuracy.

When we were playing, we asked it where were we, it spelled out COLLEGE. Then we asked which college, it spelled out LANGMUIR, which is the college we live in. By that time, it was enough to freak me out so I left the room to try to go to bed, but curiosity drove me back to the dark room where my friends were playing it at. Then the Ouija Board responded with a question, CAN I ASK YOU A QUESTION? We were like yeah. Then it asked, WHERE IS YOUR FRIEND? We were like what friend? The Ouija Board said, ASIAN BOY. When my friends told me this, I was scared out of my pants, then the board said, HE SHOULD BE SCARED OUTSIDE. They asked why? It responded, BECAUSE THERE ARE BAD SPIRITS OUTSIDE.

Feel free to ask me or tell me about other experiences, I have more to tell!

I’m telling you that I’m not lying when I tell you this guys, don’t mess with it!

Happy St. Paddy’s Day, Well Yesterday..

Sorry for the lack of blogging, I’ve just been really busy and have somethings in mind. Well, yesterday, my friend and I took a trip to NYC, again I was the tour guide but we had mad fun. Seeing those drunk HOT Irish girls were worth it! Got back to SB at 2 in the morning. Someone was playing the Ouija Board at 5, that freaked me out, I have yet to find out and uncover the mysteries behind that game. Anyway, fun and weird day for me..
